I totally agree w/ Kelly and Sara's points. I work for a large company as well, and the pre-conceived notions of the types of careers we offer is a huge hurdle to overcome.
I really enjoyed the conference, eventhough I didn't get to meet as many people as I would've liked, and Sara this is a really good recap.
Looking forward to next year's event!

Kerry -

Thanks for the note, I enjoyed the panel quite a bit - so I hope I didn't give another perception. I think it would be great for everyone who was there to dive in deeper - we are past the point of "you should be on social media" and ready to dig into the "here is they type of stuff we tweet about, here is the frequency of our facebook postings, etc" I think there was some of that, but hopefully next year we can dive in even deeper. I think that you face a common problem that large companies with a recognizable marketing brand - people's perceptions of who/what you hire and forgetting there is an entire enterprise behind the scenes that has to be operated. Anyway, thank you so much for the comment and I am sorry we didn't have a chance to meet in person, but am glad you enjoyed the tweets! Lets make sure that we connect next time.

I liked meeting the redhead, too. So funny that you mentioned that. She's awesome. I guess it's all about networking & relationships at these events, right?

A great recap of the social recruiting summit - we did not have an opportunity to meet but I was following your tweets during the event. I'll keep your suggestion for less overview and more process in future presentations. Although Sodexo is a large company we struggle with brand recognition and social media marketing has helped us with this recognition struggle. Many people think we are a food service or facilities management company and our jobs are limited to those types of jobs. In reality we are a global company with global needs in HR, IT, Marketing, etc. and I hope that is what we are sharing with people who find us on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, etc.

As a side note, yes, the jeans arrived in time and were worn - thanks for all the messages about them. They are rock revivals and super cute and went well with my ballet flats or heels. I encourage everyone to buy jeans online when they are sick and can't make it to the store.
