Want a Free ticket to Recruitfest!
UncategorizedPublished August 13, 2009 at 7:47 am 4 CommentsLast year, I didn’t go to recruitfest. But I heard about it. A lot. Still do a year later. In the words of Barney Stinson, it was Legend (wait for it) dary.

This year – more legends are sure to be made with an amazing lineup of recruiting leaders guiding us on the journey that is an unconference. No stuffy conference rooms, no hiding in back, no boring powerpoints – just actual learning and interaction While I am excited for everyone – when I heard Gerry Crispin was going – I knew it was a must go. If you have never had the pleasure of sitting down and having a conversation with Gerry – then this is a must go conference. I will admit I am biased – it is because of a chance meeting with Gerry a year out of college that I even ended up in the HR Technology world – but each and every time I see him – I am challenged to think about something a little deeper, questions reality differently and just learn from someone who has forgotten more than I will ever know. The best part – he tolerates my quirkyness and is still willing to help me learn everything I still need to learn.
In addition – you will have the chance to hang out and learn from social media legend nominees themselves – Jerry Albright, Maren Hogan, The Animal, Slouch and many many more…even if you don’t know them (or anyone else that is going) you will be fine. In this group – even I feel totally normal.
With that said – If you want a free ticket for Recruitfest – add a comment below or @ me on twitter with what legendary thing you will be wanting to do/say/learn/discover at Recruitfest - I will be drawing (at random) for the ticket next Wednesday so you still have time to get a flight, passport, take time off work, etc.

LEGENDARY? I don’t know if you know this about me, but my middle name is legend.
While I am certainly going to be one of the young guns, I plan on sharing my “Millenial” ideas on how I do what I do. Coming from a RPO background and working exlcusively with a Fortune 100 company’s internal talent acquisition team, I have a lot of tips, tricks, and overall cool stories to share.
But this is an unconference, this is about relationship building as well…
I am not expecting to go and come back with a ton of cutting-edge sourcing techniques that will change my life forever. I am really going because I want to be in a relaxed environment that encourages GREAT conversation with all of the folks I have been chatting with on Twitter.
I know I have been slacking with my blogging lately, but if you all think I am fun to read online, just wait until we have a few Molsons together! The one thing I can promise is some great conversation and some new inside-jokes that I gaurantee will be re-tweeted for months to come.
If that doesn’t work, I will just make a funnel and start the party “Gen Y” style.

PS: If Neil Patrick Harris is there, I will scream like my mother at a Beatles concert circa whenever the Beatles were alive.
PPS: Are they still alive?
PPPS: Don’t roll your eyes at me.
Wait, wait for, wait for it —> BHAM that’s me smacking Mr. Suburu “Momma Does My Laundry” Millennial (Fieldsy4Life) upside the noggin! Nah just joking brosef.
All kidding aside, I’m really just looking to bring one point back to the table that will help me develop personally in this recruiting world. In observing all the vibe about RecruitFest on the internet I think that sharing ideas and resources with some all-stars in our industry is what worth its weight in gold, plus I really want to meet @Animal in the flesh. I wonder if he’s going to do his world famous show behind a curtain like the Wizard of Oz?

If I won the ticket to Recruitfest… Well, first, I’d be honored to get to meet all the greats in person. It would be sort of like going to the Baseball Hall of Fame induction dinner and rubbing elbows with the crew. Each asking, “Who’s that guy?” And, I’m really looking forward to meeting Doogie Howser. I had to deal with that nickname every single day growing up, and I’m just happy that I’ll finally be able to give him a piece of my mind.
Seriously though, I’ll be the kid in the back with the power point nobody even wants to see. And you can guarantee that I’ll be making my blogging debut from the show. I can’t wait!
