Twitter'd Lately?

This past month has been overwhelmingly owned by twitter.  I was first introduced to twitter by @marenhogan at the Kennedy Recruiting Conference in Orlando, FL last year.  I will be honest; I didn’t get it at all.  Finally, @DouggR (who also didn’t get it) and I were determined to figure it out…with each other only following each other – it didn’t seem that cool.. Then one day, it was like it all clicked – it would be cooler if there were more than the 2 of us on here!  (I know, rocket science right?) THEN, I was at this year’s Kennedy Recruiting Conference, got a few more followers, followed a few more people and became a twitaholic.

OK, so maybe I won’t go that far – but every time by tweetdeck makes the noise my heart kinda skips a beat…

But what does this have to do with HR technology when Twitter is a “social” site?  Well, I hope you aren’t really even thinking that – but if you are – recruiting is all about networking and connecting with people.  It is about branding and selling your organization to people who may not want to come and work for you.  It is about making yourself or your company approachable to the person that wants to buy your product or will never actually work for your organization.  And, its about being social and meeting new people!

Just recently, I have added @HRMDirect onto twitter and you know what?  It payed off –  within minutes of my first tweet out I…get real, I can’t give away all my secrets on how I did it, since it works and I don’t want all the other vendors doing it, but I was super excited!!  Bing   Bing   Bing
If you are already twitafied – follow me at @sarahw79 or this blog at @hrtechblog
